What type of file is a mp42 and how can I convert it to play on a SCVD? Whenever I try to open it to TMPGEnc, it says "cannot open, file not supported". What can I do to fix this? Thanks

mp42 is the FOURCC code for the Microsoft High-speed MPEG-4 V2 codec, and is basically similar to Divx. I assume this is in an AVI, and that you don't have the standard codecs installed, only Divx and whatever Windows Media Player downloaded.

You need to download wmpcdcs.exe (about 700K, available from (a quick search turned up) http://stat.tamu.edu/ftp/pub/mspeed/stat652/wmpcdcs.exe or http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DPSedits/files/wmpcdcs.exe ) and install it. After a computer reboot, the file should open just fine in TMPG.
