Is it normal to have a speed of ~3,5 with my pc config?
Conroe E6600 @ 2,40 mhz (default) and 2048 PC6400 DDR II memory. I know someone who has a
athlon x2 +4200 2.2 ghz (@ 2.7 ghz) and has a speed of ~4.45

Or can i speedup this avs in anyway ?

Yes definately check out avisynth MT
things got quicker on my dual core with it.

I added SetMTMode(2)
Speed went from 3,1-3,35 to 3,4-3,60, so an increase of 0,3
Is this what you ment by quicker ? (10 %)

How did u get CCE work with ur E6600? afaik most users are having problems with that...

are you sure the person you know with a 4200+ X2 used Lanczos4Resize? i highly doubt he was getting speeds over 4 with Lanczos4Resize. Lanczos4 is noticeably slower than Lanczos. with my 3800+ X2 at 2.75ghz and using Lanczos4, my speed never went over 4 (at least when i was watching it anyway) but with regular Lanczos, it did.
@Bh4i,
are you using the latest revision of CCE SP2? i think the latest version (i believe its 1.00.04) has a fix for conroe processors.

Has the fix just been released? I get the same error with CCE SP2 1.00.04 when trying to install it.

I've just downloaded the latest trial version 1.00.04 and it still has that error message when I try and install it. I have a Conroe E6600

Strange, I just downloaded the latest SP2 trial again but this time from a different site as listed by cinemacraft and this file shows it is v1.00.00.05 and not v1.00.00.04. The new release is dated Oct 5.
From the read.txt
<< Software Name >> Cinema Craft Encoder SP2 Trial Version 1.00.00.05
<< Filename >> ccesp2_100_trial.exe
<< Copyright >> Custom Technology Corporation
No mention of it on the cinemacraft site tho.
Unfortunately it still doesn't seem to fix the problem with Conroe chips :(
BTW the site I downloaded the trial from was this one listed on the cinemacraft site

Stupid CCE developers... cant even add support for Core2Duo :(

Stupid Intel engineers cant even produce 100% x86 compatible CPUs... :P
If it works on all CPUs but not on core2 then the problem is not in the software....

unfortunately it does appear you are correct. The C2D must emulate SSE differently to other intel chips.
Hopefully CCE engineers will include C2D support in the next release.

Might be, but right know its difficult for Intel to change my CPU. :)
I think its now up to Cinemacraft :)

If you look at Custom Technology's web site you'll see that Core2Duo isn't supported( but coreDuo is).

Can you be more specific? I was thinking of upgrading to E6600 myself -- are you saying CCE SP doesn't work at all, or that it just doesn't take advantage of both cores?

CCE SP works fine with the E6600. On the other hand CCE SP2 does not work at all (won't install) with the E6600.

What speed do you have if source is DV file loaded directly to CCE?

Have you tried installing it on another, non-E6600 PC and then copying the files and registry entries over?

no i haven't but if it won't install i doubt it will run.

The installer is doing a simple CPU check and comparing it to a list of known good CPUs. This is to prevent you from installing it on a Pentium without SSE2/MMX/whatever and expecting it to work. But since Core 2 Duo is backward compatible, I would fully expect it to work just fine. I think the installer has a problem, but the actual program should run fine.

Is there someone here who ALREADY had SP2 installed and THEN upgraded processors? If so.... does the ccew.exe file fail to run for you?

No, what he said was that SP2 wouldn't install, not that it wouldn't run.

Thank you for that clarification.
I was thinking of a possible upgrade to core 2 duo 6400 or AMD 4800. However, if the 6400 did not work with CCE SP(but it does) then I would have had to take the 6400 out of consideration.

A new version of CCE SP2 has been released v1.0.0.10. This appears to work fine with the E6600.

I suggest you contact cinemacraft support and let them know. The website has been updated to show that the Core 2 Duo is now supported. Strange it also shows Xeonb Dual-processor is also supported but as to whether it is the same cpu as yours is another thing.

What codec/format was CD1.AVI in? I can't get speeds that high because lagarith and huffyuv take up too much CPU time...

dunno anymore, mostly i have xvid codecs.
But atm my E6600 runs @ 3200 Mhz, and speed is between 4,5 - 5 , depends if i have to do a framerate conversion.

Hmm, I never used to use the installer. Just right clicked and extracted to a directory with winrar. The exe always ran fine. Don't know if that still works, but it may be worth trying for those of you with the new cpus.

The latest release works fine with the new Conroe cpus.
