I wanted to reset the values to default for the following settings:
VBR_Bias
VBR_Passes
Quality_Prec

Was wondering if anyone knew what they were. Oh and was wondering... should I tamper much with Quality_Prec? I Know Bias can be changed according to the length of the film and usually no more than 3 or 4 passes are needed, but what about that 3rd settings?

PS: Using CCE 2.70. Thanks

VBR bias is related to the length of a movie moreso than the QP. the higher the setting, the closer it is to a constant bitrate, however, it will always be variable. setting it to 0 would give the encoder full freedom of where to distribute the bits. so, the longer then movie, a lower setting would be better, but i recommend you don't go any lower than 10.

as for quality precision, the higher the setting, more priority will go to finer details. the lower the setting, more priority will go to flat areas. too high, and you might notice edge artifacts and mosquito noise. but too low, you might see color banding, or blockiness.

and passes, i recommend no more than 2-3 passes. the more passes, the better, but with each extra pass, the difference becomes less and less noticeable. also, more passes makes the target output size more accurate, i think.

with that said, most people use the default settings for all encodes (myself included) except i do 3 passes.

To reset them to the default, all you have to do is remove them from the REBUILDER.INI file.

So Quality_Prec is better left as default, right?

BTW: Thanks for that tip, jdobbs.

Actually, I think you have that exactly backwards...

you're right, sorry... it's best to leave it default nonetheless.
