At the IFA 2006 in Berlin JVC announced the first full HD camcorder recording at 1920x1080 pixels. The "HD-Everio" contains a 3-CCD chip recording at a frame rate of 50 or 60 Hz, respectively.

In addition to the autofocus there will be a manual focus, too. The camcorder is to be expected in the first half of 2007.

Currently there is no information available about the data format used, recording capacity, or the price.

Hello "bb", :)

Strange...
I suppose if it is not HDV or AVCHD, maybe DVCPRO HD "optimized".

Another opinion....
Who say better...;)

Its certainly not DVCPRO HD - thats a Panasonic brand. Since its an consumer model it's probably AVCHD or HDV - though I think its the latter cause iirc only Panasonic / Sony are producing AVCHD devices yet.

It is not impossible...
AVCHD, i don't think.

Probably HDV "optimized", because:
- their last camcorders HD was HDV/DV with SDI output 1920*1080.
- AVID as partner,
- AVCHD still young.

nothing new here, just trickling down to the consumer level.

The Canon XL-H1 records 1440x1080 anamorphic HDV to DV tape or a firestore, and outputs 1920x1080 over SDI @ 4:2:2 8 bit, at 60i with optional 24p through pulldown. Of course, its ~$7k, not exactly consumer.

I wonder what format this new camera does. Hopefully not something proprietary like those silly P2 cards the HVX-200 uses... using a bunch of flash cards in RAID to store digital video is just a stupid idea.

Canon's HV10 is reported to be able to capture at 1920x1080 pixels (but to MPEG-2): -

What camcorder (from JVC?) are you talking about?
