Check to make sure you have the required codecs.

Hi!

In order to determine which codec(s) you need for a particular .AVI, you should do the following:

1) Load the original video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

Your second post to this thread has NOTHING to do with what I suggested.

If you do as I suggested, I (or another member) might be able to ofer you further assisitance...

Well.now I'm lost.

You suggested to post a screen capture of the "file information box" and that's what I did,the first file has ac3 audio and the second has mp3 audio and both are silent in VirtualDub.
Or by "original video file"you mean a special kind of file?

When I originally looked at your second post, there were no links showing.

You should make certain that you have the same .AC3 and .MP3 codecs installed as you used to create the XviDs...

Yes they're the same I have on my disk for a long time now.

Well, based on the screen grabs you've posted, it appears that you DON'T have an .MP3 codec installed...

Lame 3.96 appears in the VD menu and I do cd rips to mp3 all the time with winamp and Wavelab using Lame or Franhoufer, also GSpot says codec are installed.also when I try to sync ac3 audio inVD no sound in heard but in the file info there's ac3 recognized, this is very wierd how cant anybody tell which codec uses VD to decompress.

As I said in your other thread on the same subject, VirtualDub uses the codec that is required for the format of the audio. As setarip_old has already told you, GSpot indicates that you do not have the appropriate codec installed.

GSpot says codecs are intalled,VD even recognizing ac3 does not sound.

Sorry guys,I'm not doing this for pleasure, something got screwed when I installed GX Transcoder, such a bad idea cos VD was working great, and still does but no sound when monitoring althought it saves audio in all formats.

Perform a "System Restore" back to the last time things were working properly...
