I've been capturing some TV shows with my ATI AIW 128 using MPEG-1 at 3 MBits/sec at 352x240, 29.97 fps with a GOP of IBPBI. (still looks good at full screen, and no interlace issues) My ultimate goal is to convert to VCD because MMC 7.1 built-in VCD capture isn't good enough. I can capture an hour in about a gig and a half.

But when I use TMPG Cut & Merge to get rid of the commericals, the audio is out of synch in the final file. While I'm setting the begin and end blocks within TMPG everything is in sync, but the final file is not. I upgraded to 2.02 and tried again, same result.

Any ideas?

Try another cutter and joiner. Maybe it help.

If you work with MPEG-1, why don't you try VirtualDub to cut the commercials out?

If you have enough disk space, you could also try to higher the quality and record only I-Frames @ 15MBit/s in MPEG-1 or even MPEG-2 and then recompress to VCD- or maybe SVCD-Format; I do so, and my sync issues are gone.
