Hello,
I was backing up my DVDs from my harddisk into avi / divx format. I used DVDx2.4+ versions else GardienKnot / AutoGK. After 2 pass settings nearly 75% of times I get an avi/divx file which had delayed audio, else delayed video. The processing takes one night to see whether file is good or not. Audio-Video Synchronization was ON.
1. I am wondering whether the delay can be predicted somehow so I won't process that DVD
2. whether the delay issue can be solved completely
3. whether the pop-up of whether to continue or not which occurs at 50% of the processing (after the first pass) be disabled. I just want complete processing be done once I start the process
4. whether there is a software which will do the conversion with guarenteed no issue of audio delay etc.
Thanks in advance

Actually I'm having the same problem on at least the last 10-15 DVD backups I've made. I've been encoding for years using the same method and never had a problem until recently.
Is DGIndex reporting no delay on your audio? In 80% of my problems its reporting no dealy yet I usually have to set a delay of -100ms to keep sync.
My process is very simple, serve a very basic AVS script in to VdubMod and have XviD encode it at quant 3 using a medium to high custom matrix. Wish I could help or at least narrow the issue down.

Thanks for the reply. I wonder if there is a way to find in advance whether the file after encoding will have the delay. My problem btw has become worse. I installed Dr. Divx 2.0.0 OSS, Guardian Knot, AutoGK, xmpeg. Now I have started getting many errors with different programs. If there is some incompatibility, how to check it? How to get error files that I could forward to someone to help me figure out the problem and a solution?

what are you using to rip the dvd to hard drive ? anydvd has been known to cause issues as has dvd fab decrypter, if using dvd decrypter what mode are you using ? what protection is there on the disc ? have you got any codec packs installed ?
there are many factors to take into account.
when ripping with dvd decrypter normaly i use ifo mode - as this will rip just the main movie, it has been known for the movie to be tagged as starting in the menu vob and poss thats why there are sync issues with ifo mode as i said only main film is riped - i have done many films like this with no problems

There have been many postings indicating similar problems.
The simplest proven "cure" for this problem, which is directly related to more recent copy protection schemes (RipGUard and ARccOS), is to use the "RipIt4Me" package (RipIt4Me, DVD Decrypter, and FixVTS) to rip the DVD...

from the two posts above, it looks like the issue could be due to the ripping mode. I use dvd decryptor but more often i use dvd shrink. I uninstalled and reinstalled the divx and xmpeg drivers and converted the same movie using the same DVDx. the delay was less however it was still there. I will try RipIt4Me and inform if that works. any more comments will be helpful.
After writing the comment above, i realized that since i don't have the original movies anymore, RipIt4Me will not be useful anymore. I guess only solution(s) at driver and convertor level will be.
Edit:

Hello,
I ripped a couple of DVDs with DVD Decryptor and then converted those files using the DVDx or Dr. Divx. The converted AVIs are still out of synch with the video. The delay is progressive. PLEASE HELP!

1) What are the Titles and Region(s) of your latest problematic DVDs?
2) Have you, as previously I previously suggested, tried to use the "RipIt4Me" package (RipIt4Me, DVD Decrypter, and FixVTS) to rip the DVD?
3)i realized that since i don't have the original movies anymore???

ever thought it might be dvdx and/or dr divx causing the problems ?
