And again M$ is pushing 64 bit computing... but is it really necessary? I think not...

This is a gonna be a PITA to explain to clients. Telling them their stuff won't work with Windows Vista is not gonna make 'em happy. I'm amazed that many office evironments haven't switched to an XWindows or Linux windows environment yet especially with all this crap Micro$oft is dishing.

if i understand it right only m$'s software will not play the content. other players will be able to handle this i understand this right

Just to settle the rumors once and for all: there will be no difference in out-of-the-box playback capability between 32-bit and 64-bit Vista.
