i have by now downloaded everything to play divx including whatever xp already has the problem is that i can't get picture or sound but i can see the player timeline thing moving on win media but on most others it just says either can't play from location or cannot play file type:confused: :)

You still are not specific about what you downloaded and installed. Sounds like you didn't install the divx codec. If you did, are you sure your movie is really divx?
