View Full Version : Output Not ISO: How Burn Now?

I forgot to check the "Output to ISO" (and burn with Img Brn.)
Is there a way to burn a disk now, or do I have to start over with the correct settings?
The output I have now is a folder named DVDFILES with a VIDEO_TS with .BUP, VOB and IFO files and an AUDIO_TS subfolder with nothing in it.

You can use ImgBurn v2's build feature to burn the DVDFILES folder as a DVD.

or you can use ImgTools classic to create an ISO. either way will work fine, but ImgTools is a tool specifically made for making ISO's, so its more straight forward.

You could also put it in 3 click mode, set the ISO selection, and do just a REBUILD. It usually only takes about 15 minutes and will burn at completion.

Far and away quickest and easiest is ImgBurn (www.imgburn.com). Simply open build mode (Ctrl-Alt-B), change output to device. Pop in blank. Select source (DVDFILES), press Go. Within 10 minutes , you are burned, verified and ready for the next one. No need for an ISO at all.

One thing I have noticed about the new ImgBurn 2 option of not using an ISO, is that ImgBurn waits for you to confirm and click OK at the start of the burn - is there anyway to skip this?

In ImgBurn under Tools/Settings, click on the "Build" tab. Make sure the "Don't Prompt Image Details" selection is checked.
I couldn't find a way to set that from the command line.

Actually there is a command line setting for that flag... I'll fix it for the next release.
[Edit] Done for DVD-RB v1.10.5

Has anyone tested the quality of the DVD burn not using an ISO ?
I don't know how not making an ISO first works but have always found that burning to ISO, defraging and then burning has produced better burns than burning from files.

It shouldn't make no difference - provided that your HD can deliver data fast enough without defragging.

there' no need to create an iso image if you only want to burn your created DVD.
Just use NERO and drag'n drop the VIDEO-TS folder insto a new dvd video compilation.

I would never use Nero for DVD-Video burning. Too many problems in the past reported by other users (not to mention glitchy discs I've had myself).

Same here. Use ImgBurn. It's free and it's better.

I use mkisofs and DVD Decrypter v3.5.4.0 to make/burn ISOs. It's old school, I guess, but it's been working forever...

DVD Decrypter creates an MDS file when creating ISOs. Is this a necessary or desired file when using ISOs? DVDRebuilder doesn't create the MDSfile, correct? :thanks:

Hi!Is this a necessary or desired file when using ISOs?Yes, if you are going to alsdo use DVD Decrypter to burn the .ISO. Among other things, the .MDS file includes crucial layer break information...

If you are using DVD Decrypter to read and then write the same ISO it is useful. But, it is not required in order for Decrypter or ImgBurn to properly write an ISO.

ImgBurn (www.imgburn.com) has a very friendly layer break selection dialogue box. Guides on site.

RegardsHi,
This is what I did. It worked good. The proceedure worked good that is. The disk was unreadable, but maybe it was a bad disk or rip or something. So I'm redoing it now, but it's cool that ImgBrn can handle either format.
I see something new with RB1.10.8 -- IMG BRN directly to disk, no ISO. I guess this is a new way to skip a step? I selected it on the reburn I'm doing.

If you got a burning problem, post your ImgBurn (www.imgburn.com) log in our DVD Burning forum or the official ImgBurn Forum (http://forum.imgburn.com/).
