OK, I give up. The slider for the main feature was at 100% and DVDRB simply extracted and rebuilt this VTS.

Here's the original.

Anybody got any clues where the extra 2Mb came from?

Hmm.. I can't imagine. It's only a difference of .0068 -- but I still wonder where it comes from. It might be a difference in the way closed captions are stored. Some authoring engines use a fixed size while others use variable length. Do you have "Closed Captioning" enabled?

I think it is coming from the way the authoring is done...

I mean, there is some limited degrees of freedom in order for different authoring methods to perform the packing of the streams into the VOBUs in different ways, still complying with the rule of keeping the individual VOBU duration between 0.4 and 1.2 seconds...

Of course each VOBU have a leading NavPack, so if the authoring is sub-optimal [absit iniuria verbis], more NavPacks than necessary are included in the DVD, and some little space is wasted. I would definitely not worry at all about this.

If you try to demux the original and rebuilt titles with PgcDemux, you will see that the (exact) size difference comes from the number of Nav Packs, which is higher in the rebuilt DVD...

@Jdobbs: while doing the above checks, I noticed the old issue related to VOBUs with duration less than 0.4 seconds has been reintroduced... I am not sure when, since I stopped testing your excellent application against verifiers since long time, but with the last release of DVD-RB the issue is there...

CCE SP 2.70 - if you are talking about the VOBUs too short...

May I ask why do you think the encoder is a factor ?
Also - if you think it could be useful, I can send full details on the process, log files, etc. - but I think it is not necessary - on what I see the error is more or less present on all of my last backups (PAL) ... :( so it should be hopefully easy to find and replicate...
