Hi, Because I have no Digital (Photo) Camera,
I use my Digital D8 video-camera instead to shoot pictures (photos)

But the quality isnt all that because you still have to deal with that slight yellow/red/purple/blue "haze" that covers
every frame (I think its called chroma noise,
but please dont bash me if i'm wrong)

Are there any good (free) photoshop filters that can remove
(most) chroma noise in screen captures from camcorders?

Thanks

Hi,

First could you specify what kind of noise? You can use the capture guide to narrow down and/or upload a pic.
Guide: http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/capture/chroma_artefacts.html
To upload see: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=96362

Now if your noise is somewhat like that pic: http://www.doom9.org/capture/images/rainbow5.jpg
it's rainbow-ing and you will need some de-rainbow tool like in this thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=112759&highlight=pesky+rainbow

If not, more details welcome.

Hi there, I found your post very helpful. Some people really take the time to
answer a question
Thanks :)

But I really have a dislike for scripts and hearing "avisynth" makes me wanna run away.
But I guess I cannot hide forever.

I do not quite understand the modular usage of avisynth and its scripts and all the avs's you need.
Or did I just nailed it down? I just hate scripts
(psych-probs and sore eyes of me behind monitor making
scripts to render 3d pov-ray images)

btw, i guess chroma noise, logically will be different for every
shot and scene because of the ccd and lighting right?

Heres a pic with lots of chroma-noise that just looks very ugly.
Ar ethere any photoshop plugins that might help???

Thanks.

Hey Banana Cream Pie,

I hope you would post your adventure with Avisynth when you're done.

I too can't hide from it forever...

Come to the Avisynth side. You'll be glad you did. You can start by copying other scripts, then modifying them to suit your source files. You can diminish chroma noise with Avisynth by using a plugin called FFT3dfilter - and, you can tell the filter to only clean the specific color channels responsible for the noise. That's only for starters: wait till you get familiar with the LimitedSharpen function, or learn to restore overly dark scenes with AGC.

See you in the Avisynth threads...
