black screen when playing YUY2 video files

i use a program called dscaler that can record uncompressed frames to yuy2 uncompressed video. i used to be able to play them back fine, but now i just get a black screen after uninstalling some codec packs.

how can i make MPC playback yuy2 videos correctly? i am hearing audio fine. (PCM)

Install Huffyuv and set this vidc="yuy2" thingie in your registry (when necessary).

i have huffyuv 2.1.1 installed already. i can set dscaler to capture to that format, and then i can play the file in MPC fine.

you mentioned set this 'vidc=yuy2' in the registry. how do i set vidc=yuy2 in my registry?

Add the following to your registry file:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32]
"VIDC.YUY2"="huffyuv.dll"
