You can do it manually without much effort. Here are some steps that assume a CCE encode.

1. Run a "No Compression" PREPARE.
2. Open the REBUILDER.ECL file and another new file with Notepad.
3. Cut and paste the header (the first couple of lines) into another text file.
4. Move down the REBUILDER.ECL file until you see the section (starting with "[item]" that relates to the cell you want to encode. Cut and paste that section also.
5. Save the new file as "encode.ecl"
6. Then you can open CCE manually and encode just that section. It will overwrite the M2V file extracted in PREPARE.
7. REBUILD

Couldn't you also use the new segment editor? Run the prepare phase, set the feature vts at 100% at then adjust the end credits segment to your desired bitrate?

Haven't done it yet myself, just thought that's the kind of thing the new editor was designed for.

EDIT: Just tried it and it worked, although I think I may have encountered a minor bug in the new segment editor. I tried to make sure I reduced the credits enough to fit on a DVD5, so I reduced the credits segment just until the DVD output size showed 4.37 g. When it re-encoded and rebuilt it, the final output size was 4.31 g. I should note that I have adjusted my target size in the rebuilder.ini to TargetSectors=2252000. I'm using V1.10.3.

Just thought I'd pass that along. I apologize if someone has mentioned it already in another thread.

Yep.... that's a better solution.

I'll take a look at the new viewer/editor. I think the calculations must be missing something somewhere.

Thanks for the input , but I would love a way to do this within DVDrebuilder :D

I will try your guide Thanks! :

 The way nashcity described is within Rebuilder...

I have already done several full backups using the Beta Video Segment Editor (within DVDRB Pro.)to bring the end credits down to about 1000bps for text only credits.
That rate is not to bad for black & white text IMO. I did bring it down to about 600bps for text only credits but the letters looked pretty jagged.

If during the credits there is a little video montage I raise them a bit higher (no pun intended).
All the bits I save I use in the main movie.

Ok Another issue in the same catagory encoding end-credits:D

What if I have a Movie wich needs to be re-encoded and I adjust the endcredit way down it dosent seem that the extra space is reallocated to the movie?

Should I manually increase part of the film after decreasing the endtitles?

I thought that DVDRebuilder would do that by it self during the 4 passes (I use CCE)?:D

Sorry might be a stupid Q, But adjusting 30 Chapters to allocate the extra space is very difficult

PS Any way I can adjust the ratio with use of "Keys" instead of the mouse..very hard for me to hit target size

There is no need to adjust 30 segments. You just may reverse the procedure:
First, click the VTS_xx (Feature) and move the slider to get some oversize. This will in fact increase the size of all included segments.
Second, click the segment that you like to shrink, and shrink it until the staus line indicates "Size within TARGET limits".
You are done.

Thanks Sharc !!

I didnt know you could do that :thanks:

The target size is that defined by the value in the ini file?
Or is the editor using the default value?

Cheers :)

It uses the one defined in the INI file.

Great!

Sometimes its to big other time its 100MB under but if I leave it and dont use the Editor its perfect everytime :D

So the calculations must be different, any input on others having the same problem?

PS Any way I can adjust the ratio with use of "Keys" instead of the mouse..very hard for me to hit target sizeI think this is a very good idea, but I think jdobbs mentioned somewhere that he was considering implementing a box where you could type in a custom %.

I've added a couple of "<" & ">" buttons to make small changes for the next release.

I really like the Beta Editor.
Indeed, I did notice that when a segment is kept at 100% that segment stayed at DC precision 10 while the rest of the movie was at DC 9 which is where I set it to begin with.

So, when or if one chooses 100% for a segment they will absolutely get the original settings for that particular segment...original bitrate and original DC Precision settings.

If it's at 100% DVD-RB simply extracts it from the original and remultiplexes it into the new one. So settings such as DC precision and/or matrices would have no effect unless you select "Force reencoding for filters".

YEs Thats why its so fast :D No re-encoding Love it!
