I gotta say, 1.10.3 is as solid as a rock as far as I am concerned.
I am getting record throughput of about 25 frames per second encoding time (i.e. real time encoding here in PAL-land) with Procoder 2, Mastering Quality, Dual Processes on a non-overclocked Athlon 64 3800+ using a Gig of Corsair 2-3-3-8.
About the only things I could even think about requesting are the no demux/remux if your main movie is 100% (I mentioned this a month or so ago) and the slider in the preview is a bit difficult to fine tune (also mentioned before by someone).
Anyway, just wanted to express my appreciation, amongst all the "issues" that jdobbs has to answer each day.
:thanks: :thanks: :thanks:

Absolutely wonderful app! Can't figure out why I was so slow to adapt.
I've also got one minor request. I like to rip and put all output for a DVD in a DVD-specific folder which is always in my D:\DVD VIDEOS folder. I've told DVD-RB that in setup, but unless DVD VIDEOS is the exact folder I'm going to, when I click to Browse for the appropriate folder, it starts the search on "My Computer." It would be great if it could start it's search from the drive and folder you specified in setup.
Like I said, MINOR, but when you've got a kicka** app, you can only think of minor improvements.
Thanks JDOBBS!!!

Agree also that Preview/Size-estimate issues are among the few functions that are less than ideal - this can be a real irritant because of the time it takes to confirm an error:
Interaction between use of the coarse-resolution slider at both global & cell-level appears to be flawed - so much so that the only reliable means - for me; doubtless other users have mastered this - to guarantee 4.30~4.32 output together with extra reduction in [say] the 'credits' cell is to oversize output by default, then to manually reduce that cell.
. . despite also being a longterm VIP member of the excellent NuMenu4u [which sadly appears to no longer be in development], would appreciate it if DVDRB could be developed to handle those menus that get tucked away in VIDEO_TS.VOB, as well as having a reliable & independent resizing function for all menus.
. . lastly, am most impressed by the consistency & appropriate simplicity/detail at each level of user-interaction with DVDRB - it's this sort of thing which defines a really well-made application. Thank you.

Yep, this version is working great!
Not sure if this would be the place to ask this, but as I use CCE 2.70 Basic and it does only do 2 passes, could there be a way for DVD-RB Pro to manipulate CCE Basic into doing more than 2? 4 passes would be nice! Had to ask...:sly:

DVDRB is a great soft but it doesn't do miracles. :)

I'd be more inclined to try an limit CCE SP to only 2 or 3! I keep getting comments about how long it takes to do an encode -- only hear that the job was set for 10 passes. Usually it's because "they said that's what I should use". :D

Good point! I have read quite a few NFOs over the years and have noticed that 2 to 4 passes is the norm these days for most groups. I have never really, personally saw where more than 3 ever was to produce any noticeable improvements.
CCE Basic being 'limited' to 2 passes is where I was thinking that it would be kool if someone were to be able to by-pass their limits and make it more like the higher dollar CCE SP is where I was actually headed in my thoughts. Either way, I can't complain for what DVD-RB cost nor the cost of CCE Basic. Both do what I want from them and on your part, extremely pleased.

When would someone need to use more than 4 passes? Can someone give me a situation where it would be needed. Some ppl argue that the longer the duration of a movie the more passes but Im not sure about that...
Ive seen upto 9 passes being used on Bollywood movies. But the most Ive ever used is 4.

I, myself, think that many people are stuck in the "more is better" attitude: More money, more pretty girls, more success is better than a little. When even the guys at Custom Technology will admit that anything over three passes is overkill -- yet there are many CCE users that set their passes for some arbirary number like 10 and swear that they see radical improvement -- I kind of think they're seeing what they want to see. I've never seen a difference between a 10-pass and a 3-pass encode; and it's something I've tested quite a bit. For that matter, I rarely see a difference between a 2-pass and a 3-pass unless the movie's lengthy or full of action. Even then, it's very minimal.
By the way (and keeping the discussion on-topic), you continue to impress me, Jdobbs! This began as a fantastic program, and just keeps getting better and better. Even if you did nothing else to it, DVD Rebuilder is far and away one of the best software items installed on my systems: It does what it says it does! Your support for your product is something Microsoft would do well to try to imitate -- a quick scan of Rebuilder's version history proves it! I truely hope that the Pro version has generated some good income for you (even though it's a source of amuzement when someone with a cracked version comes looking for -- and sincerely expecting -- help from you). We'd all be watching some pretty crappy backups if it wasn't for your hard work... so thank you!

You are sincerely welcome. I appreciate the kind comments. As for "generating good income" -- well, enough to pay for the discs I buy for testing, anyway.

One of the reasons I stopped development was that jdobbs was about to implement menu reduction. I am not sure what else could be added to numenu - i seem to have covered all areas - apart from the occasional bug fix due to some new sneaky PGC or VOB.
