Now SmartRipper has this new feature - create a d2v file as well.
It didn't work well on he first movie I tried it on.
Heads of both files are different(SmartRipper 2.41 than DVD2AVI 1.76).
I wrote only the different lines:
DVD2AVI:
Field_Operation=1
Frame_Rate=23976
Location=0,0,3,7A3E0
7 0 0 1 2 3 0 1 2 3 0 1 2 3 0
7 0 52 1 2 3 0 1 2 3 0 1 2 3 0
...
SmartRipper:
Field_Operation=0
Frame_Rate=25000
Location=0,0,0,0
7 0 0 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2
7 0 52 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2
...
Notice that the framerate is wrong and the indexes following are totally different.:(
Anyway, when this feature fully works, it would be great.:D

The D2V file I made with SmartRipper 2.41 wont load into TMPGEnc, all I get is "Unkown or Unsupported Format" whereas the D2V file made from the VOB with DVD2AVI 1.76 naturally does load in fine. The header layout looks a bit different as well.

Also if you have a 29.97 fps DVD, Smartripper writes it out as being 25 fps in the d2v project file.

That means that the new SR has problems with NTSC, but not with Pal? :confused:

Yes it has a problem with NTSC... and well who doesn't ;);) I don't think the authors (Tron) main focus ist fixing it soon. He said he doesn't care at the moment :)... but will fix it in the future.

I tried a little bit, and there is an enormous problem. It seems, that the project which is created by the SmartRipper contains every vob, but without the first one. But if you load into GordianKnot, it shows the right movie length.
By the way, its better to use the 'old' way and create the *.d2v file with DVD2AVI...

I ripped a PAL dvd yesterday with smartripper 2.41 and the
.d2v was corrupted - it seemed the video stream in the second vob had somehow swapped places with the first one.
Wierd. Oh well, nothing wrong with dvd2avi for this job :)
Don't spose anyone knows how to turn this feature off for the moment. It'll be good when it works properly tho.

Yep. Install the previous version overwriting the new one.

I use alway the DVD2AVI project created by SmartRipper 2.41 with my own edited AVIsynth 1.06 script in VirtualDub 1.4.10 and I have had not experienced any problems with PAL DVDs yet. ;)
