Hi
What is the best DVD Ripper for making VCD/DVD Compliant .MPGs? When I say BEST, I mean best in terms of video quality of the output.
I got IMTOO DVD RIPPER PLATIMUM 4. It has VCD output but that comes out at .DAT & DVD output but that comes out as .VOB.
It also has MPEG-1 & MPEG-2 but the settings are not VCD & DVD compliant.
I know everyone have their own opinions as to THE BEST but I just wanna hear it from the forum members.

You've already mentioned two very good options for creating VCD-compliant output in this other thread that you started:

Hi setarip_old.
I think you misunderstood my question.
This question is about the best DVD RIPPER (or anyhing better than IMTOO) to make MPEGs from DVDs. The other question is about the best AVI to VCD/DVD converter/encoder that makes .MPG files.
As far as I know, TMPENC software aren't DVD RIPPERS.
Unless you mean rip the movie to .DAT or .VOB with IMTOO (or any other DVD RIPPER .. if so, what other ones?) then use TMPGENC to convert them into MPEGs. This may reduce video quality, wouldn't it?
CHEERS.

This question is about the best DVD RIPPERThe program you've mentioned in this thread is not exclusively a "Ripper" - it is a "one click' solution, ripping and converting.
My favorite "ripper" is DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4 - and then, as I've already suggested, the programs you mention in your other thread are excellent choices for the conversion process...

you have been warned about forum rule #12, i would suggest that you change it, but i am just curious to see if it's a stikeable offense; that be said:
you take a "dvd ripper" (one suggested by setorip) to extract the contents of a dvd to your hard drive, use dgindex or dvd2avi and load the contents (*.vob) into it, and F4 to save a *.d2v file to load into tmpgenc, then start creating whatever your heart's desire
tmpgenc is not a "ripper" is an "encoder" more or less
okay, let's see, if i remember correctly, tmpgenc produces the best quality for vcd, and cce for svcd

This question is about the best DVD RIPPER Struck for rule 12. (Apparently this is the only way I can get your attention since my warning to you was ignored.)

Hi
Sorry about rule 12.
But I think I did send both questions at the same time before I got the mod's advice on rule 12.
Maybe I should have said "FAVOURITE" or "WORST DVD ripper".
Or "Which DVD Ripper is capable of making VCD/DVD compliant MPEGs?" because IMTOO is NOT capable of doing it!
CHEERS!

rock_king_my - Your question is not correct. Rippers rip video to hard drives on a PC. That is ALL they do. They do NOT convert ripped content to VCD/SVCD or anything else.
If you are looking for a "one click" solution that does ripping and then does conversion, please ask that question. I recommend DVD2SVCD for conversion to VCD/SVCD. If you just want to convert dual layer DVD to single layer DVD, DVDShrink is pretty good.
Asking what is the "best" is frowned upon here. That's the point the moderator is trying to make.

Your post #3 of this thread continues to ask for what's best and is well after your warning.
