Hey guys,
I have a motion menu consisting of 3 parts. The first part is the intro, the second is the main part with a transition part from the intro. The third part is the main menu without the transition. The 3 parts are supposed to be seamless. Do they have to have the same VobID?

I think it depends on how you made the menu.
If you make one single video divided in 3 chapters then you'll have 1 single VobID. If you have 3 single videos then you'll have 3 VobIDs. I think also that it doesn't count if you have 1 VobID or 3 single VobID since you can make the 3 VobID plays seamless if you want. The problem is that if you add Cell commands to a Seamless menu then the next Cell will be forced "Not Seamless". You can make (my suggestion) 1 video that have intro+menu (put a chapter from intro to menu) so you'll have 1 single video with 1 VobID. Put the video in a PGC and you'll have 2 programs that play seamless. With GPRM you can the decide if you want to play from beginning (intro) or from the 2nd chapter (the menu without intro). At the menu cell add a command to play itself (cell commands are executed at the end).

OK, so having the menu in 3 different VobIDs doesn't have any effect on the seamless playback.
Can I somehow restructure the VobIDs after having authored the VOBs so that I have my menu in one single VobID without reauthoring the whole DVD?

By default different VobID's are flagged as Non Seamless but if they're consecutives and video/audio have same length (no gap) then you can switch to Seamless.
Probably with tools like DVDReMake Pro you can change the VobID/CellID without reauthoring the DVD but dunno why you want to do that. There's no difference from a 1 VobID video and 3 VobID's if all plays seamless.
