I have been trying to convert some mkv file that use x264 and aac to wmv-hd so I can play them on the 360, since transcode 360 does not like these type of files. I have tried using TMPGEnc and WMNicEnc and they both start out fine but after an hour or so the program will crash. I would convert them to mpeg2 but I dont want them to take up so much room.
Thank you in advance for your help

try if your wmv9-hd encoder tool supports avisynth input. if yes, then use directshowsource()

I'm currently trying my hand at converting some h264 content to WMV9 AP. The content is the BBC Planet Earth series which I have read uses the slightly wierd MBAFF interlacing.
The best program I have found for doing this (Windows Media Encoder blows) is Canopus ProCoder 2, give it a try.
Regarding 360 playback of WMV, since the recent dash update, it will now play WMV from a bog standard XP machine and from external USB devices and CD/DVD discs.
