View Full Version : Can this be fixed? (combing)

Some time ago, when I wasn't a member of this forum yet, I converted a tv capture to DivX with one of those all-in-one programs. Everything was OK, I thought. Now, today I watched the film again and I noticed I have done something terribly wrong with the conversion. Needless to say, I don't have the original capture anymore - that was the whole point of converting it to DivX.

I assumed the cause is wrong fieldorder deinterlacing. I tried restore24 and mrestore, but the first gives me a CAVIStreamSynth error, and the latter says "choosen rate won't work" with whichever framerate I choose.

Here's a sample:

Could anyone tell me what the problem is (is it fieldblending?) and whether it can be fixed?

Just field-shifted progressive video actually, a victim of interlaced resize and pretty much unrecoverable.

Chalk this up to "should have used AGK" and wait for another chance to capture it.

Aww, that's too bad. Is there any way to clean away the combing effect a bit, so that it's less noticeable?
