Hi,
I have a DV source. I've saved the audio as wave format and I'm trying to convert it to ac3 so I can put it on DVD. I'm using BeLight, setting it to 192kbps (the source is 2/0 stereo) and unchecking any other settings like hybridgain or decreasing the volume -3db etc. (In fact, for some reason, I can't read anything that's on BeLight. I just see a bunch of checkboxes and nothing written beside them). I transcode it and for some reason, the ac3 audio file that results has a volume that's MUCH lower than the original wave source.
Now I know compression does lower the quality of the source but this much? [I'm just judging the audio volume by AC3filter. I haven't tried it on my TV yet]. I tried watching (in windows media player) a drama aired on SBS-HD (with ac3 audio) and the volume is pretty low too. However I tried playing a english movie dvd which has ac3 audio and the volume is fine and much louder.
I'm not sure if the problem is related to my system not playing back ac3 audio properly or if it's related to the actual encoding. Either way, I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks~

Hi,
It's a known problem of the low volume for the older ac3.dll. You can
- use ffmpeg (recent)
- use Behappy with the ffmpeg extension
- use newer Aften encoder (very promising)
Behappy and Aften have a thread right here, use search.
