sup buddies... I'm lookin for an app that can compare 2 audio files. I mean compare compressed and uncompressed files of same media to have an idea about how much quality is being lost in the compression process. And to change parameters trying to get better quality, of course trying to balance between this and storage.
Any idea?
Thanks in advance.

No such program exists. You'll have to compare with your own ears.
There is a similar question at Hydrogen Audio: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=46924

As fas as I remember, there is something called PEAQ, which is an ITU recommendation for perceptually audio evaluation.
And I do think that there are some softwares (may not be free) available to compare the quality of coded audio streams.

Thank you guys, I started to code a program to read audio files and then compare each sample, but then I started to read about lossless audio formats and that's what I was looking for, I'm trying .ape now and it is great, perfect data, good compression.
Thanks.
