I always assume that if I make a vfapi avi file out of a avs script that if I decide to go back and change something in the script that I would also have to remake the vfapi avi file. or if I don't the fvapi file might not run right correct?
Well that's not my main question.. the concern I have is would it be ok to copy/past a avs file with the vfapi file that was created from it to another directory and not have to worry about remaking the vfapi file? There is probably a no duh answer to this but I just want to make sure it's alright to do this. Thnx! :D

I don't have the spec for the VFAPI interface nor the code for the VFAPI converter, so I can't answer these questions from a theoretical point of view. That means I would have to perform experiments to answer them. But you can do that as well as I. :)

I've tested out the first question quite a bit. Right after I mess with the script I test the vfapi out of curiosity even though I plan on remaking it in the first place. I think I've seen it not work a few times but with recent testing there doesn't seem to be a problem. Still as a precaution I remake the vfapi file.
As for the second question I was playing with that last night and everything seemed to work fine. I'll play around with it more though. I think I may have copied a avs and a vfapi file to a different directory last night and tested the vfapi file this morning and then it ended up not working. I'm not sure I copied the vfapi as well as the avs file witch could explain why it didn't work in the directory.. before in that directory I had a avs file and a vfapi file with the same name.. I'm sure I replaced the avs file at least because the script isn't the same as the old one but it's exactly the same as the new avs file I intended to copy to the folder. I remade the d2v file and the avs file and maybe forgot to replace the vfapi file in that directory.. witch could be the explanation for it not working. or maybe I did copy paste both of the files.. I was so tired and passed out a tad bit after I was messing with those files so yeah I'm not entirely sure. I'll mess with it more today and try copy/pasting a few files to a different directory and see if they work fine the next time I reboot.
For the most part it doesn't seem like a big deal to copy avs/vfapi files to another directory and seem to work just fine.. and changing the scripts and not replacing the vfapi avi made from it doesn't seem like a big deal either. I'm not 100% sure so I still plan to remake the vfapi files just as a precaution.
Edit: Just did some testing and you do need to remake the Vfapi avi file if you mess around with the script that made it.
