My wife is slightly hearing-impaired so I want to improve the dialog portion of my MP3 (with Xvid) encodings (I use BeSweet/azid/lame to convert AC3 to 2ch MP3). My Digital TV recordings have a very nice 5.1 soundtrack with a clean center dialog channel to work with, but of course I don't wish to throw away the other channels' music & sound effects. So I want to Boost the Center channel and/or Reduce the L-R-SL-SR contribution to the downmix.
I have read about, and DL'ed azid.exe to view my AC3's BSI data (typically the "Center mix" is -3.0db and the "Dialogue level" is -27db). I've read & read & searched and frankly don't understand how to use the -c (center channel) and -n (dialog normalization) arguments; indeed maybe these aren't the only issues I need to address?
How to Fix the Mix?
