Hello Fellas. I hope anybody can help me.
Not sure where to post this. Hope this is the right place.
Anyway, I've been using x264 w/ great success.
I'm encoding with Megui into .mp4 container using x264, and then I mux into .mkv with whatever audio i have using Mkvmerge gui.
Everything was fine as long as sources were original dvd's or .avi or .mpg files.
Now I wanted to re-encode some ancient sci-fi movies I have (already in .mp4 format) to lower resolution to play then on portable device. I used DirectShowSource() function in avisynth to open the .mp4 files.
After I encoded those files w/ Megui - into .mp4 files using x264 codec - I noticed that I couldn't play them in mplayer (but could in vlc) - And just as I tried to mux them in .mkv (as i always do) - mkvmerge crushed (w/ all of them)
I don't understand this. How come I encoded tons of other dvd, avi, mpg sources into .mp4 using x264, and they all worked fine. And yet now i encoded .mp4 files into again .mp4 using x264 and they neither want to mux nor play in mplayer.
Ps: I even muxed those "bad" .mp4 files with Yamb and it did mux them in another .mp4 file (this time w/ sound) but this resulting file behaved same "bad" way - couldn't be played in mplayer or used w/ mkvmergegui.
