We're trying to install the VC1 DMO's onto a Server 2003 machine. The DMO's seem to install fine, but the WM Format 9.5 SDK is for XP only and will not install on Server 2k3. Without the WM Format 9.5 SDK installed, it appears that WME is unable to recognize the Advanced Profile codec, and therefore cannot encode VC1.
Is there a workaround for this?

In double-checking, I see we're actually running Server 2k3 R2. Perhaps, since the DMO's are listed as supported in Server 2k3 R1, this might be why it's not working?

You can install the Advanced Profile DMO, which will add WMV9-AP to 2K3

We did install the DMO, and it gives us a codec-not-present error when trying to use Advanced profile. I think that the 9.5 SDK must be installed in order for the codec to work in WME, but the 9.5 SDK will not install on Server 2k3.

Server 2K3 R2 already has WMP10, so it already has WMF SDK 9.5 too, otherwise the WVC1 codec would never install in the first place.
Let's focus on the codec not present error. Are you getting that in both the WME9 GUI and the wmcmd.vbs script encoder?
