I am pretty much a newbie to analogue video capture who is very stuck.
I have 40 VHS tapes to backup to DVD. Half are family video and the rest are pre-recorded. Of these a few are NTSC with most being PAL.
No matter what capture software I use with this card I cannot get this size.
The DVICO software tells me it can capture 720x576 MPEG2 files but not to AVI at all.
The bundled Video Studio 8 software will capture AVI but only up to 720x480.
I have tried VirtualDUB, VirtualVCR and Sony Vegas 6, all with similar results.
DVICO have not been helpful.
They just keep telling me that I cannot capture AVI full stop with their card.
Even when I tell them I am already capturing AVI files with other software, but I cannot achieve 720x576.
It seems like the card is locked into NTSC sizes?
I am further confused by the person who recommended this card to me, saying they can achieve PAL 720x576 with this card (but I cannot get to physically see this working).
I would just like to know whether this card just cannot do this (so I can get rid of it), or whether it is something I am doing wrong, and I need to keep trying other options.
And if it is the wrong card, what card or cards would you recommend I get?
Thanks in advance,
Steve
