Much more prevalent on sources shot with DV (The Office, '06 Olympics). The color is always the same - that stain your get on your hands after peeling a couple of oranges. Any suggestions on addressing this in AviSynth?

I don't know how to get rid of it short of drastically lowering resolution. The noise is the result of sub optimal bayer filtering (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayer_filter) and demosaicing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demosaicing) used in most Digital cameras.

No. It is a problem of the optics used with the cameras.
In German it is called "chromatische Abberation"

The function FixChromaBleeding (with the Didée speedup mod), seems to help. Will have to test it out some more, but it looks promising.
