Funniest thing I've read in ages:
http://www.hdbeat.com/2006/07/07/blu-ray-and-hd-dvd-copy-protection-defeated-by-print-screen/

A simple automated app and something like the CineFormHD VFW codec and you'd easily be able to produce excellent quality back-ups of the video stream. A decent 1280x720 rescale with an AVC encode means you could easily fit the material on a dual layer DVD.

Syncing up the audio would be a bit more of a challenge (if you wanted multichannel sound, stereo would be easy).

Apologies if posted elsewhere.

This only works because current HD movies don't yet use the encrypted output.
