You mean all your movies are too dark? (at least that's how I understand it)
Maybe you turned down the brightness of your decoder filter. When you have loaded your movie in wmp6.4 go to the "file" menu, select "properties", click the "advanced" tab, select your divx decoder filter, click on "properties" again, there you have it: setting for brightness (and other things).

Hope this helps,

Sibe

For some video cards there is an adjustment in advanced display properties for "overlay brightness" that would do the same thing.

I wonder if this would work on WMP.....

Most of the vids i view are slightly dark and i can change the settings but when i close WMP they are reset to default.. (Real player keeps the settings for brightness that i set luckily.)

If you set the brightness/contrast/gamma in the video overlay section of the configuration of your graphic card, it will certainly work for any player that uses overlay.

....But the card controls in one of my PCs are broken, and why i have to bright all the screen for just the movie window?

so i ask, what is the best player with brightness controls on the main window??????

I use ffdshow for that because dark isn't my only problem. Sometimes the saturation is too low or too high, sometimes the reds need toning down or I need a quick way to apply blur or deinterlacing. You can set up many presets in ffdshow to correct all those kinds of problems. But ffdshow is not without cost in cpu usage.

I just wish it would save my settings in WMP!!

With Realplayer i can move BRIGHTNESS to maximum and it stays there!! -- WMP keeps resetting the levels to default everytime i view a new video stream..

Quite annoying...
