I have this AVI on a faulty CD, and regardless what recovery apps I use it breaks off at one point, so I dumped an image and about of 93% of the video can be played back in MPC. The funny bit is that VirtualDub in all its wisdom tries to reconstruct the index and fails to yield more than a minute of the original video! I tried Fraps to directly record video but it can't achieve full 25 FPS on my Athlon XP, I don't want to keep using MPC to view the movie and reconstruct the AVI everytime.

Is there a good cutter tool that will just harness more of the footage than VirtualDub could?

Thanks for any replies!

if mplayer can play part of it, then perhaps mplayer -dumpstream can save what it can play. If not, your best bet is to return to the source and recreate your backup.
