I author 10-20 DVD-R's a month. Never had any problems with Apex, Pioneer, Harmon Kardon, JVC or others until now.

I authored 2 DVD-Rs last night for a Samsung M301. (Metallica Live Shit Binge and Purge). Of course they play without problems on my Apex, and my friend's HK, but the Samsung shows extreme pixelation/blocking followed by a short freeze at different points, and intermittent chapter skips. None of these abnormality takes place in the same spot. Freezing happened at 00:10:07, ejected the disc, played fine at that time, but not 00:12:32.

It's as if the DVD player has problems decoding the disc. Maybe laser alignment?

There are no smudges or scratches on the DVD-R. The owner said production DVDs play fine.

Has anyone else noticed problems with Samsung DVD players, or it's clones, GE, & Hititachi?

FYI:
DVD Maestro (2044)
Mpeg2 720x480 9000kbit VBR

It might be due too high video bitrate, dvdmaestro (2.9 i have) recommends 8000kbps maximum.
