Hi,
I searched and there was a thread on this issue sometime ago but I can't find the solution from that thread.

I know there's a lot of information to be understood/read here and some threads for example the staxrip / Gknot's threads...

I am currently refreshing each page and downloading them as webpage complete manually (only 40 posts per page).

Is there a way to download printable versions for the entire thread? Printing them out and reading them on the way to work or back from work in the train/public transports would be ideal. My work already involves a whole lot of computer viewing and screening, wanna rest my eyes a little bit by looking/reading at good ole fashion papers!

please advise
:o

Not the way it is. vBulletin by default doesn't allow the whole thread to be displayed in one shot. So, unless it ain't displayed, you ain't printin' it. However, there is a hack which will allow you to do so. More info here (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=117712) (registration required). But you can't do it from your side. The Admin will have to install this as a product from the AdminCP.

heh worth to ask :)
thanks for letting me know...i googled that and yes i got to that page also...but then again like you've said it, only if the admin allows you to.

Coz what I find is that most threads are very informative and good to read although there are bits and pieces everywhere. For example, things regarding avisynth appears in Gknot's areas, in mpeg1/2 encoding areas/mpeg-4 areas/everywhere...some threads are good whilst some aren't just worth the time. I am doing this manually page by page in the thread now... saving it offline to print/read later.

Anyway, thanks for the low-down. There are website rippers out there but I don't think i will resort to that which is unbearable from an admin side of things... not much point really. I just wanted the threads I think will help me in further understanding these interesting stuffs

a search would reveal the answer
Do you mean to say it is already possible? vBulletin allows it natively now?

/me hums some melody about the awsomeness of search engines and thinks about rule 1. It's a soluion that has been discussed before in this very subforum.. it gets you 250 posts per page.. most threads don't get that far and if your'e about to read a 1000 post thread.. you're just kidding yourself.. nobody reads that much so let one tree live for today.

@Doom9, Close, but no cigar. If you mean display the thread in the 'archive' mode which will display 250 posts per page, then I am aware of it, but that is not the precise answer here. Mshake's question was not how to display more than 40 posts per page, but how to display the *whole* thread (and hence print it).

As for the archive mode of display, it is confusing to me personally especially when there are a lot of replies where users quote one another. But if it works for someone else, great. It is a different question altogether if someone would *want* to read a long thread with > 250 posts or not. Maybe he wouldn't. Maybe he would. Who knows.

Technically, the only way to let vBulletin spit the whole thread out in a page, is to use that Add-On. No other way.

To me 250 at a time is more than enough.
It's better than 40 at a time.

But, well, 250 at a time but no pictures...
I'll keep seraching anyway.

to all who replied....thanks...
Actually .. I did read that thread about printable version of thread ....which kayaker pointed out. And yes unskinnyboy is right, my question was indeed looking for a way to print out the entire thread (there are some which are here from the very beginning, or rather LONG such as those avisynth threads, etc).

I did it manually the other day and managed to get one thread which has around 30+ pages with 40 posts per page. Apologies if that takes bandwidth but i doubt text/printable versions would take up as much as downloading softwares.

hehhe....and yes as well i managed to read all the posts in that thread...hehe call me crazy but if i find something interesting i will keep reading..

250 at a time is not bad... oh well, u can't have everything in life. Happy to proceed manually for now.
