View Full Version : GKnot - inaccurate bitrate calculations

I've encoded one movie about 3 times so far in GKnot, and I still
haven't got an acceptable filesize!

The movie length is 1:13:00, with 128kbps audio. Trying to make it
701MB is becoming a pain - if it doesn't come out as 716MB, it comes
out as 670MB! Would the program DivX4BitrateCalculator be of use? Or
is DivX4 simply not that predictable and you have to mess around to
get a proper filesize?

I used FairUse once (with 5 passes), and it gave me exactly 701MB - but I must admit that the quality of DivX4 encoding is better, even
with FairUse's multiple passes.

Thanks for any feedback,
Prizm

This is not really a problem with GKnot, more a problem with the divx codec. 4.00 and 4.01 gave predictable filesizes, but since 4.02 there has been problems... I'm sure you can read more about this problem in earlier threads in this very forum.

Oh, and one more thing: There is a specific GKnot forum on this board, and you should have posted this GKnot-specific question there, not here...
