Hi, PROs.

If I were to use an external AGP graphics card, do I uninstall my onboard graphics first?

Regards.

Sometimes it can be used for a second (or third!) monitor. Sometimes it just interferes/crashes if you don't disable it in the bios. It all depends on the chipset. SiS in particular is bad at interoperability, even when you do disable it.

You cant un-install onboard gfx .. you can disable them in bios.. also check to see if external gfx needs to be enabled in bios.

Whenever you change graphics cards, or switch from onboard to AGP or PCIe, it's best to first uninstall the drivers for the old card. In the case of onboard video, you would then enter the BIOS and disable the onboard or enable the AGP or PCIe port (whichever your manual says), then turn off the computer and install the new card, reboot and install its drivers. I usually start by downloading the latest drivers for the new hardware and have them unzipped and ready for the first boot-up with the new device.
