I didn't see this thread in here, and what's a forum without one. Easy enough to do, just talk about your favorite movie(s).
Green Street Hooligans - Some people don't like this because Elijah Wood's in it. I thought Elijah was amazing in it, I mean, the whole point in picking him was to watch a goodie goodie transform himself from a pushover to someone that stands his ground. Anyway, the acting was amazing, the story was amazing, and the overall movie was amazing. I reccomend it to everyone.

Have to agree it is terrific, in all ways... horror, acting, black comedy ETC ETC almost hypnotic (sic):D

V for Vendetta. And damn was that a surprise for me, I though I would hate it...
If I like comedies like Scary Movie (1 and 2), would I like Shaun of the Dead? I've actually been on the fence about renting it for quite some time now.

It's embarrassing, but I have to say... Xanadu.
I think I've owned this movie in every possible format since its release. First, I only had an audio cassette recording from HBO (we didn't have VCR's back then), then I got the video on VHS (and wore it out), then I got it on laserdisc (I still have that), and finally DVD!
I guess you could say the movie takes me back to a more innocent time in my youth. (I'll be 40 this year, ugh.) Rockin' music, cool special effects, cheesy dialog, and Olivia. Works for me. :D

Shaun of the Dead is indeed a great movie.
As is V for Vendetta.

Shaun of the Dead is not much like Scarey Movie. SM is more slapstick - spoof and very silly and very American. Shaun is much more british. It is well worth watching though.
Another great movie is the Aussie movie "Hercules Returns". But my most watched movie is in fact Alien.

Saving Private Ryan
No matter how many times I've seen it, I'm still in awe especially when I think about those generation that went before us.

Blade Runner
I just adore this film on so many levels. Considering it was released in 1982,i feel it still stands the test of time today against all this 21st century CGI gimmickry

I have never even seen 1 Scary Movie, movie.:D
If I didn't already love Shaun of the Dead, I would have bought it just because of this line>Shaun is much more british.
It doesn't get any better than that for me!
V for Vendetta was Amazing! A History of Violence was not what I had hoped for based on the graphic novel. None of the movies based on video games have lived up to my expectations....Bummer! But Silent Hill was creepy fun. Can't wait for Frank Miller's 300, Zack Snyder will do it up right! Frank can keep Sin City 2 on hold forever as far as I am concerned, Angelina makes my skin crawl.
All time favorite movie, hands down...ALW's Phantom of the Opera! I had to be tricked into seeing it, so it turned out to be the biggest cinamatic surprise of my life.:p

Well, my favorite movie of all time would have to be...
The Usual Suspects (Singer, 1995).
However, there are several other movies on my list of virtually "perfect" movies that are close runners up:
Citizen Kane (Welles, 1941)
Casablanca (Curtiz, 1942)
Shadow of a Doubt (Hitchcock, 1943)
High Noon (Zinnemann, 1952)
Breakfast at Tiffany's (Edwards, 1961)
The Graduate (Nichols, 1967)
Apocalypse Now (Coppola, 1979)
The Empire Strikes Back (Kershner, 1980)
Blade Runner (Scott, 1982)
Scarface (De Palma, 1983)
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Cameron, 1991)
Tombstone (Cosmatos, 1993)
Pulp Fiction (Tarantino, 1994)
Heat (Mann, 1995)
Saving Private Ryan (Spielberg, 1998)
For foreign films, I would have think harder before producing a good list, but here are a few of my favorites anyway:
Kumonosu jo (Kurosawa, 1957), aka Castle of the Spider's Web/Throne of Blood
La Dolce Vita (Fellini, 1960)
Plein Soleil (Clement, 1960), aka Purple Noon
La Femme Nikita (Besson, 1990)
