EPG implementation

Hi All,
Iam involved in EPG implementation and hence interested. I’m initial stage only .Apart from EITand BAT is there any other table which we need to consider and what should be the database strategy?
Can you suggest some useful links and papers and also the problems which you have encountered during it’s implementation.
