:helpful: Hi there,

I'm trying to insert permanent subtitles in a previously encoded divx movie, using the subtitler plugin, but everytime I save the file with the codec parameters set to 800kbps (divx 5.2.1), the projected file size is about 71Gb... I've followed several tutorials from the web (beginning with doom9 :o ) and doesn't matter how I do, selecting "no output avi", doing 1st pass, 2nd or saving directly. My HD runs out of memory faster than I take a smoke. The problem is always the same, but I have the codec installed and running correctly -of course registered for compressing-, and all seems like I was saving the file uncompressed... there's no way to get a .stats file in any way.

Please help, I'm getting a bit neurotic...

I thought Nandub only works for encoding with DivX3...

Hi!

Try using VirtualDub instead - and make sure that from the "Video" dropdown menu you've selected "Full processing mode", clicked on "Compression" and selected the proper video codec and settings - and then clicked on "OK".

Then select the subtitle filter, etc.

yeah, with virtualdub it's piece of cake to make anything, but the fact is (I don't know why) that both vdub and vdubmod crashes when I try to re-encode the avi with subtitles. Nandub was my last chance and... well, how should I call it? Still a little "complex" for me. (fcchandler, I think you're QUITE right :-) )
I'm going to burn the movie and try on another pc.
If it works, I'll burn another thing called "f******-cheap-motherboard".

See ya.

OK, got it. I don't know why I didn't notice that audio stream was in mp3 VBR. Vdub HAS to give a warning because of this but, well, as I said before, it hangs.
I extracted the audio with nanDub and converted to mp3 CBR... after this, all went extremely fine, as it's has to be!

Thanks anyway. Bye!
