View Full Version : Problem with DVD to DIVX

Hello,

I have a problem when converting a captured Show in the DVD format to DivX (means AVI).
I tried several codecs, for example Divx6, Xvid and APVC, but everytime I have problems when the movie gets quickly, for example when the camera "flies" quickly over the audience. Then it "shakes" (don't know the word for "ruckeln" in German :) really hard.

So what am I doing wrong ? Do I use the wrong Codec ?
By the Way I used VirtualDubMod and VirtualDub-MPEG2 yet. XMPEG doesn't work (it doesn't recognize the dvd-material) and I don't want to have MPEG.

Thanks in forward and sorry for my bad English :)

If by "I have problems" means your video gets blocky, you're probably using 1-pass encode. Using 2-pass and a higher bitrate should solve that.

My bet would be that you are not itvc or deinterlacing as appropriate (or perhaps you have the field order inverted). This will cause combing to appear during motion, and at lower bitrates this will translate into blocks after encoding.
