View Full Version : Does Menu Shrink Work with File Mode Rip?

I'm trying Menu Shrink for the first time. I'm trying it on a DVDDecryp File Mode rip. In MShrink, when I click "Open" I can navigate to the folder the files are in but MShrink wants a single file to be selected. I don't know what to select.

Is there a way to do this?

Does Menu Shrink only work on ISO Files?

While I'm asking questions, will DVD RB Pro usually digest Menu Shrink'd projects?

Hi,

Drop your VIDEO_TS directory on Menu Shrink, it will then launch the process :)

I don't know.

Hi,
I don't have a Video TS Directory.

I have three Video_TS files though: .BUP, .IFO, and .VOB.

I've seen Video TS Directories before on other projects along with another directory I can't remember, but I don't have one here.

It's VIDEO_TS (case sensitive for some apps).
DvdD should have created one by default unless you changed the target...
Try renaming the directory containing your video files to VIDEO_TS or decrypt again and let DvdD create the VIDEO_TS directory.
or just drop your whatever-named directory to Menushrink (haven't tried that one though) :D

Hi Did:
It's VIDEO_TS (case sensitive for some apps). Roger.
DvdD should have created one by default unless you changed the target...I usually see that directory. I think there is another one that goes with it called AUDIO_TS. I don't know why I don't have them now. I don't know what "Changing the Target" means, so I don't know if I did it. I ripped it to a directory I created on one of my hard drives.

I used File Mode. Should I have used IFO mode? I'm trying a rip now in IFO mode. I don't know what to expect. I thought DVD RB Pro wanted a File mode rip but maybe I'm wrong. I'm going to post that question over in that forum now.
Try renaming the directory containing your video files to VIDEO_TS All the files are in one directory. I don't know which of them are video and which are something else.

Please experiment on your own, you already have answers but, it seems, not capable of seeing/using them actually (no attacks, just constatation)
Exemple: You created a directory instead of using the one proposed by DvdD so you +DID+ change the target :)

I used File Mode. Should I have used IFO mode? I'm trying a rip now in IFO mode. I don't know what to expect.
IFO mode consists of (Gurus please correct) selecting one angle (choice made by DvdD) and stripping everything else: trailers, menus, bonus etc... Ifo mode is not compatible with Menushrink nor Fix VTS nor DvdShrink which has it's own film reauthor possibility.

I thought DVD RB Pro wanted a File mode rip but maybe I'm wrong. I'm going to post that question over in that forum now.
All the files are in one directory.
Be careful not to cross post; in this other thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=838544#post838544
You are, for the ISO part at least, crossposting with this thread . To avoid this, please remove the ISO part from this thread .

I don't know which of them are video and which are something else.
Did you try one of my recommandations?
If not, please do so and report back.

drop any ifos or vobs

Does Menu Shrink only work on ISO Files?

no, because there is no way to modify an iso

MenuShrink (http://jean.laroche.free.fr/MenuShrink/) works on decrypted files in File Mode only. There is a very good help file on the site and also in the app itself. Read it!

DVD Rebuilder (http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/) won't choke at all on a MenuShrink (http://jean.laroche.free.fr/MenuShrink/) file. In fact, it won't even process it, cos the MenuShrink (http://jean.laroche.free.fr/MenuShrink/) is always lower than DVD Rebuilder (http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/)'s default for menu encoding.

I think I got it all working pretty good now. I get mixed up sometimes when I haven't done any backups in a while. This was the first time I tried MenuShrink also.

Decrypter wasn't making the VIDEO_TS folders for me, but I fixed that by returning to default settings. I think I could have just inserted a folder named VIDEO_TS on my file rip but by the time I figured that out (and thats what Did had sed above) I re-ripped it anyway.

Funny, when I set DVDD back to defaults it left two PUO removal boxes unchecked. I checked them. I don't know why anyone would want any PUO to remain.

I'm making a backup w/ Shrink and one with RB and I'll compare them. I got the main movie in Shrink to 79% by squeezing the extras as much as possible. 79% will look good in Shrink I think, but the extras will probably look like crap.

Glad to know that, happy trans-coding.

PS: it is possible to drop a whatever named directory on menushrink, I just renamed a working VIDEO_TS directory for that purpose, it works.
