On some dvds (originals and backups) my dvd player seems to freeze at various parts of the movie. It can even happen on a new dvd that has no scratches or anything. This problem started about a month ago so I probably have a problem with dirty lens or something. How should I clean it? Is there a guide somewhere?
I tried a quick search in the forum but the keywords I used for searching didn't find anything relevant...

I've had continuing success over the years using a DVD/CD cleaning disc made by Maxell. It sells for about $10US...

Hi thanks for the tip. I've heard that these may cause damage although I don't quite believe it. Did anyone hear something similar?
For the moment I used a can of compressed air for cleaning electronic boards and blew it into the drive. This seemed to have fixed the problem so far. It probably blew the dust away from the lens.
