Just thought some of you guys might like to know about the following card from a Swiss based company called Micronas...

Here's what the PCI Express card looks like: -

Here's a direct link to the PCI Express cards main page: -

And to the DeCypher 8100 chip-sets specification: -

Waste of money if you ask me. If someone can't play an AVC stream, they are probably better off using the money to buy a better CPU.

A completely passive set up could probably be possible with a card like that and ULV single Core cpu.

But VGA/D15 output? Not really that good for consumer setups (not the target audience of that card, I know). DVI/HDMI would have been better.

Doesn't look like a VGA output. I'd guess decoded data is passed on to video card for output.

If it is not prohibitively expensive, it could be a good idea for HTPC applications where a monster CPU with its monster requirements for cooling and power supply are undesireable.

I think it is VGA, I believe this is a low priced card designed for mid-range PC's, it's not in the same league as Nvidia or ATI

There are of-course other connectors on the card, which presumably will offer the connection of "daughter boards" with digital output connectors (whether they be DVI or HDMI).

The one connector that may be mistaken as VGA is a 9-pin connector, not the 15-pin DB15 VGA connector.
