This is from the pdf file with instructions for upgrading the firmware on a Philips DVP5140:
Burn the files to blank CD-R, not a DVD or CD-R/W, using the following settings:
File System CD-ROM ISO Level 2
Mode 1/2/XA
Character set ISO 9660
Finalized, single session
Write speed slow (e.g. 2x, 4x)
Finalize the disc. (The application may do this automatically.)
I was wondering, why no cd-r/w? I've always used those with a Kiss DP-1000.
Is there a danger of damaging the Philips with a rewritable?
