when i encode with divx4.01 using smartripper,dvd2avi,vfapi conveter, virtualdub i have the foolowing problem:i set 2pass,performance quality:slowest(or medium),bitrate:1369(for two cds),maximum quantizer=3,minimum quantizer=2,maximium cpuusage(100%) and leave all the other settings at its default values. So it took me 19hours for the first pass 18 hours for the second pass (i had them in the joblist).Note that i dont encode audio(direct stream copy)as i intend to do it after video encoding.Processing thread priority=highest and the boxes show input/output video are unchecked. Why does it take so long? The average rate at which it encodes is 2-3frames per second.please help me...

I am helping you. Your PC is a bit on the slow side, so the encoding times are around the normal for your spec. Either put up with it and leave it to encode overnight or buy a new mobo and/or processor.

It must be faster on your machine. Not much, maybe some 50-80 %.
What is cause ? Perhaps BIOS setup, perhaps software problem.
You should check with some benchmark program machine - Sandra for example.
If it is OK, then look software - to many active progs in background... Reinstall VDUB, codecs etc....

Hi:
You should use the latest version of divx4 (4.11), the 4.01 version is too slow encoding. I recommend you use avisynth as frame server be, it works faster ;)
