Nandub output file is speeded up when fusing video and audio

Hi

I tried to put a Lame MP3 audio File over a video file with no sound in Nandub but when the avi is output the audio is OK but the video is playing about 3 times as fast as normal. It encodes normal AV files OK but when I try to put the mp3 file over it there is this problem.

Can anyone help?

have you used MPEG-2 Layer 3 files? These are MP3 files with a sample rate of less than 32 or 44kHz. Nandub doesn't handle them proberly. Either use WaveMP3 + VirtualDub or use files with higher sample rates.

Nandub would not play audio streams very well since it wasn't intended as a media player. If they are LAME mp3 files then they shouldn't be MPEG2 layer 3 in the first place. I think you can check out the frame rate settings in nandub(Video-->Frame rate) and make sure it's the frame rate that you wanted to encode.

Also look at the third option button in frame rate settings where it says "Change so that audio and video durations match (xx.xxx fps). If xx.xxx is different from your actual frame rate, try using the third option as it helps to fix sync errors.

Lame MP3 CAN be MPEG2 Layer3 files. MPEG2 Layer3 is the same as MPEG1 Layer3 but in contrast to M1L3 M2L3 allows sample rates below 32kHz and lower bitrates. I.e. if you e.g. use a 22kHz MP3 file it's actually M2L3 and then Nandubs nasty MP3 muxing tricks won't work anymore ( see what Avery Lee wrote in his news section about it on www.virtualdub.org ). Try WaveMP3 + VirtualDub for muxing .mp3 and .avi files.
