I was wondering if I could use vbr mp3 with xmpeg? What Im talking about is using vbr mp3 while encoding a movie and sound at the same time using xmpeg. All I see is the old Radium mp3 codec. Would like to use lame with xmpeg. Any suggestions, thanx

You can try to use the LAME ACM codec (it can be found in the "main software page" of doom9, follow the link in one of the first text lines in his "Downloads" page). When you have two codecs for MP3 now, you will need to set up the "Priority" setting for the audio codecs in that branch of the treeview in the multimedia control panel.

But Flask / Xmpeg is known to introduce sync problems; the better solution is to create a silent AVI, the audio separately, and to multiplex the MP3 audio into the AVI with Nandub (use "Direct stream copy" in both Video and Audio menus).

actually.. the lame acm only allows for cbr sound. There's no way to get vbr audio in xmpeg right away. But if I may.. I suggest you switch over to gknot.. it does 2 pass which yields in better quality, it supports all lame modes without any problems and it's much more stable.
