I'm looking into compressing a number of my DVD ISO images to the 3gp format for playing on my Windows Mobile based phone (windows media player 10 mobile.) I've seen a couple of tools that can do it but they're both commericial products.

I'll consider other formats, but I know 3gp is one that works on the wmp 10 mobile.

:thanks: TAZ

Hi!

I'm guessing that you meant to ask a question or two, but forgot to do so...

Sorry, I guess I should have been explicit.

What would you recommend for compressing DVD ISO images to a format such as 3gp for a windows mobile device that's using wmp 10 mobile? In particular I'm looking for alternatives to Xilisoft and ImTOO for doing this. It doesn't matter if I'd have to convert to another format in between.

:thanks: TAZ

[EDIT: Added more specifics about what I'm looking for]

Well, you need to do a few steps:
1. Rip the video & audio streams out of the DVD/DVD ISO
2. create a d2v file with DGIndex (or is it called DGDecode now?)
3. Create an avs file with notepad/your favourite avs editor (meGUI and gordianknot are often used, I use the former)
4. Convert to windows media format with nic's encoder

Hope this is clear (and correct ;)).

One more thing, this will produce a .wmv file, but I'm pretty sure WMP can play it :P. 3gp is a container designed for h264 video & (i believe) aac audio, if you want to encode that, replace the last step with meGUI or a similar tool
