ok im at a loss here now matter what i try i cant get any mkv file i made on windows to play on slackware 10.2 - i have compiled progs and codecs - and recompiled them all to no good
could someone advise me as to what i actually need and what configure options i require - as im still a bit new to linux - although i like what i see already :)
also is there anything special i need to play .ts files
thanks
MPlayer and VLC are probably your best chance. However, MPlayer's Matroska demuxer's support for native H.264 bitstreams could still be buggy. I haven't tried it for a while. If there is not an up-to-date VLC package for Slackware, compiling it yourself could be a bit tricky because it has a lot of dependencies.

as i have seen and tried to make - spending a few hours to to get one prog to work is a bit of a pain in the rear - i have tried mplayer but that plays the mkv/x264 files i have encoded from windows very poorly
think i'll see if there is a vlc package ready made - see if that helps
thanks btw :)
edit: after checking vlc site seems they now make (or someone has supplied) a slack package
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-slackware.html :)
works in that so guessing when i made it b4 i did something wrong ;)
