I'm currently doing The Dirty Dozen with AutoQMatEnc version 0.33.0.4. I'm using Dvd-Rb ver. 1.09.3. It's going on 9 hours and I'm at 78%. Is this normal? By the way, Rebuilder reports the bitrate at 4,177/3,278/3,516 Kbs if that's any help.

Everything depends on your CPU :)
Be aware that AQE is slower than HC, but at lower bitrates the quality is very good

That sounds like a lot of time. On my middle-of-the-road system CCE usually takes 2 hours or so on a typical DVD with a two hour movie and average extras. AutoQMatEnc takes about 4-5 hours. HC takes about 3 hours.

What kind of processor do you have? Also, are you using any filters? Some filters can really, really slow down your system.

Are you using Qmatop, that slows down the process a lot.

Just FYI, AutoQmatEnc ver 0.33.0.5 has been released and at these (high) bitrates use HCenc, its much faster and quality is also good.

The key difference between AQMenc and HCenc is :

1) AQMenc can use QmatOp for optimized matrices.
2) AQMEnc is multi-threaded

After 13 hours it was at 87%. I needed the computer so I aborted the program. Last night I ran it with HCenc. It took a little over 5 hours to complete. The results are pretty good.
Yes, I had Qmatop on. I just installed AutoQmatEnc ver 0.33.0.5. I'll try it again tonight with Qmatop off. I just thought I'd give this encoder a try considering it has a low bitrate.

You should use the 3 click mode that way you can stop and start the encoding at any point of time as per your convenience.

QmatOp can double the time it takes + AutoQmatenc is also very very slow with interlaced sources.

I dont think the bitrates you mentioned are low, you will get faster and better results with HCenc with these bitrates.

If you abort one-click mode, the next time you run RB, put it in 3-click mode, and you will be able to resume the encode as well (assuming you haven't messed with the files or run a new project in the interim, obviously).

I have been somewhat doubtful about trying that feature but this morning I had no choice. I was doing another movie when a thunderstorm rolled in and I wanted to shut down my computer. When I restarted, it started from where it left off. Nice! I'll check it when it's done. Thanks!
