I'm trying to author a DVD that has 4 different titles on it, using dvdauthorGUI. The when encoding the video, I set the first two to have a 4:3 aspect ratio, and set the last 2 to 16:9. Now I've never tried to author a DVD with multiple titles that have different aspect ratios before, so when I run it through dvdauthorGUI, it sets all of the titles to 4:3. Is it possible to tell it to set the first 2 to 4:3 and the last 2 to 16:9?

Hi!Can a single disc have multiple titles w/ different aspect ratios?Yes - but if "dvdauthorGUI" (I'm not personally familiar with it) doesn't support inputting such a setup, you may have to use a different program...

Thanks setarip_old,
dvdauthorGUI is a frontend for dvdauthor (which I think is a pretty commonly used free tool). There's no option for setting the aspect ratio in the GUI itself, but it does generate all the dvdauthor scripts and XML, which I can edit manually. But I'm not sure if dvdauthor will allow multiple titles with different aspect ratios. Does anyone know of a way to do it with dvdauthor? If not can you recommend a program that can, freeware or otherwise?
EDIT: Should this be in the advanced authoring forum?

Not familiar with dvdauthor but for DVD-Video you have to put different aspect ratios to different VTS
So e.g. first two to VTS1 and last two to VTS2

Thanks setarip_oldMy pleasure ;>}can you recommend a program that can, freeware or otherwise?"TMPGEnc DVD Author" v.1.6 can easily perform the task. You can obtain a FULLY functional free 30 day trial version of this commercial program at:

Also MuxMan, Scenarist, DVDMaestro, DVDit, MyDVD, Nero - just about any authoring program (this is a very common thing to do, and even menus can have a different AR than the movie)

Thanks everyone!
mpucoder, are any of those programs freeware?
I may have the simplest solution:
There's a bestest goodest freeware called PGCEDIT and I'm assuming that you have never used it.
Load your finished DVD movie in it. On the lefthand side column you can notice the 4 movies, indicated by the length of time in bracket, (25min:12seconds), for example. Highlight the title and then choose/click on the icon at the top, the one with a film reel. Choose the aspect of your choice. Finally save your change(s) by clicking the 2nd icon from the left and test.
Feedback's appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion Surf. I actually just used PGCedit for the first time yesterday, in order to burn a dual-layer disc and set the layer-break to a custom position. I didn't know it could change the AR though. Luckily, I managed to figure out how to do it with dvdauthor. It's like you guys said, you just need to put the movies with different ARs into separate Titlesets. I had all 4 in a single titleset, but I just changed the XML config file for dvdauthor to put the 2 16:9 ones in one titleset, and the 2 4:3 ones in another, and it worked out just fine.
I'll have to mess around with PGCedit some more too, looks like there's lots of nice things it can do, especially for DL discs.
Thanks again!
